Following up on the holiday chaos, a common fear we hear is: "I don't want to replace my simple switches with a computer I don't understand."
This is a valid concern. We have all seen "smart homes" that require three different apps just to dim the chandelier. That is not smart; that is cluttered.
The irony is that a properly designed Lutron system actually simplifies your walls. In a standard home, you might have a "bank" of six switches at the entry—one for the hall, one for the porch, one for the landscape, and so on. You have to play the piano just to set the mood.
With a Lutron system:
Reduction: We replace those six switches with one elegant keypad.
Scenes: The button doesn't say "Downlights 50%," it simply says "Relax" or "Entertain." One press adjusts multiple circuits to the perfect levels.
Automation: The best interaction is no interaction. We program exterior lights to ramp up at sunset automatically.
Complexity is failed design. True sophistication is simplicity.
